are you meaning to say that the erecting of it is play/entertainmet (as a masque) - or you erected it ala a disguise or show (as a masque) to cover it up?
She allures for many reasons, one could say the primary one is to bring us home, to our primary knowing- that we are the flux and flow of Being, just as we are – so it can be seen as a play/entertainment, and, from where i was at that time, i found it to be a moving away from my primary knowing, hence the erecting of the masque as both entertainment and disguise
so could we say that the allure is what will bring you to your primary knowing but thinking that you are longing for her rather than that primary knowing moves you away from that knowing and into the masque as entertainment and disguise?
seeing this clearly in my own life has lead to what i have called the death of the romantic dream. that dream was fed by my confusing the allure of her or him and the fantasy of my union with his beauty and love, with the allure of Home, that which we already are; our true nature calling for its self realization.
for me i wouldnt call it the death of the romantic dream, for me while i see clearly that the romantic dream/arc is not required and is a derivative of the allure of Home, i still find myself drawn to this archetypal dream and spiritualizing the material and/or formalizing the archetypal
i see relational/romantic union as a beautiful thing, the realization of one in the appearances and diversities of two, and the possibility of bringing consciousness to form or materializing or unveiling the spiritual in and beyond form through collective awareness. in that light, perhaps even mixed in with the impulse of what lingers as a habit but has been seen through, or just being simply drawn to be ever more intimate with someone you love, i am still drawn to it too
